| Salsero Victor Manuelle is one of the up-and-coming talents of the '90s. He was born in New York City, but raised in Puerto Rico surrounded by the hot sounds of salsa music. Early influences include Ismael Rivera, Cheo Feliciano and Gilberto Santa Rosa. Manuelle had an unusual beginning to his career. It was during 1986 and he was attending a Gilberto Santa Rosa concert when suddenly he lept up on stage and began singing with him. Santa Rosa liked what he heard and got him in touch with Don Perignon who hired Manuelle to sing in his band. Thanks again to Santa Rosa, Manuelle eventually signed to Sony Tropical. His debut was Justo a Tiempo, and he remained a prolific act throughout the remainder of the decade. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Music Guide |
